Software choices
MS
Office
This is the standard software to have on your PC today as it is necessary the
moment you want to share documents with others to be “speaking the same
language”. Some PC manufacturers give you a special offer on this if ordered at
the time of purchase.
www.microsoft.com/office/ Some suppliers of PCs may try selling
something which does the same job - give this careful consideration for your own
sake.
Symantec Norton Internet Security
I have used this software for 10 years and consider no other if you want to
protect your PC. Version 2006 is now out and is compatible with Windows 2000
and XP.

MS
AntiSpyware
This is a free downloadable program at the moment undergoing Beta testing
www.microsoft.com This software is compatible with XP and not Windows
95, 98 or ME unfortunately.
Nero
Nero CD writing software is one of the standard programs for this task,
providing wizards to help you achieve your chosen task simply – this is often
sold with your CD writer drive unit and will often be on the new PC at the time
if purchase. www.nero.com
File
Maker Pro
For creating databases, Access which is within some MS Office suite VERSIONS,
CAN SEEM difficult to use. I personally like File Maker Pro for it’s simplicity

Pinnacle Studio
For home-style video-editing - products from Pinnacle are the solution to this –
specifically the Studio program is friendly and good to explore. It will take
time to learn like any other program though. If your PC doesn’t have the
correct inputs for your cameras analogue or digital – an add-in board (a circuit
board) can be installed to your PC and will usually come with some Pinnacle
software, maybe Studio... Visit
